Silvertown Quays given final clearance
Silvertown Quays has been given final planning clearance by Newham after developers agreed to build 1,000 affordable homes.
The £3.5billion regeneration of the site centred on the stark Millennium Mills will regenerate 62 acres of industrial wasteland, bringing homes, shops and a tech-hub.
It already had outline planning consent but Newham Council has now approved the detailed plans.
The 3,000 new homes will now include a third classed as affordable with half for rent at 50% of the market rate.
The rest will be sold under shared ownership initiatives.
