Jobs grow at three times the number forecast
The five Olympic host boroughs are really booming, apparently
Gis a job?
Gis a job boss?
Why do you think I have a job for you?
The Olympic Legacy
What does that even mean?
Tower Hamlets has seen 50,000 jobs created since east London hosted the 2012 Games
How do you know?
The Mayor Of London Sadiq Khan says so
But Tower Hamlets didn’t play that big a role in the Olympics really, what about Newham where the Olympic Park actually is, and neighbouring Hackney? How are they faring?
They’re on 17,000 and 25,000 respectively – that’s five times more than was forecast in 2013. A new report says the five boroughs involved in the games will get another 125,000
That’s a lot, presumably the population will follow.
There’s already 170,000 more than previously forecast living in the area.
Isn’t that putting a strain on existing infrastructure?
Sadiq says its an example of good growth
Well he would say that wouldn’t he?
It’s not just jobs and population, there’s a major cultural change coming to east London
Is this Olympicopolis?
Boris left, we don’t call it that any more.
But it still involves the V&A, The Smithsonian, Sadler’s Wells, the London College Of Fashion and University College London.
Yes, that’s the one. Sadiq says we haven’t seen anything like it since the museums were built in South Ken more than 150 years ago.
Oh yeah, here’s his quote: “I am pleased to see this area of London is providing tens of thousands of new jobs for Londoners in important industries like technology, science and media. This is great news for east London, great news for our city and our country,” added the London mayor. It shows what can be achieved by bringing together a world-class public realm, access to culture and proper co-ordination between affordable housing, social infrastructure and transport.”
This fantastic level of growth is clearly all down to the Olympic Games. Hooray.
Hang on a minue, where are the figures for Barking And Dagenham and Greenwich?
