Wapping hopping, as we try five docks restaurants
I’ve been hopping in Wapping. More accurately St Katharine Docks. Reviewing a London Restaurant Festival event that involved touring five eateries around the marina was an opportunity to take the area’s culinary temperature.
With the docks’ north west corner re-jigged to provide maximum invitation to the hordes pouring over Tower Bridge, there’s a sense of intent here.
With the exception of recently closed Cau, the chain venues near the brightly lit steps down from the street are busy. The boardwalk’s alive too.
So why, after boarding a DLR, going through the kerfuffle of changing at Westferry and strolling down from Tower Gateway, should Wharfers bother penetrating deeper?
