Builder named for Norton Road
AN AFFORDABLE housing development in Wokingham has taken a large step forward with the appointment of a builder.
Wokingham Housing, which is overseeing the development in Norton Road, has appointed High Wycombe-based building contractor LIFEBuild, who will be responsible for the project’s construction.
LIFEBuild won the contract following a competitive tender process, and was chosen because the company offered good value for money combined with a strong track record in the sector.
The development, on the site of a former print works, will provide a mixed tenure development of three affordable rented houses, and six shared ownership apartments.
Building work is expected to begin in November, with the first residents expected to move in by October next year.
Bill Flood, Managing Director of Wokingham Housing Limited said: “We are delighted to have appointed an award-winning builder local to the South-East. They are already building our scheme for young care leavers at 52 Reading Road and we have been impressed by the way they have approached and progressed this particular development. We are confident they will bring their values of quality and cost-effectiveness to the Norton Road development.”
WOODLEY Concert Band will present a colourful concert this Saturday.
The group’s autumn performance is called Musical Colours and will feature a range of popular music inspired by colour.
It will be held at Bulmershe School in Woodlands Avenue, Woodley from 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 or £10 for concessions.
