Late equaliser saves Kestrels
Woodley United 1 Thatcham Town 1
MICHAEL PORTER bagged a stoppage time equaliser to earn Woodley an impressive point against Thatcham.
The Kestrels looked set for a second straight 1-0 loss, but centre-back Porter popped up with his first goal for the club to stun the title chasers.
James Anderson handed a first senior start to Sam Guze after his impressive run of seven goals in seven games for the reserve side.
And Woodley more than matched their opponents, despite losing the reverse fixture 3-0 earlier this campaign.
Goalkeeper Alex Reed did have to be at his best to deny a couple of Thatcham efforts and the Kingfishers took the lead on 68 minutes with a quick break from Josh Helmore.
But the Kestrels kept battling and grabbed a point when Porter got the final touch in a crowded penalty area.
The draw takes Woodley’s league tally up to 10 points from 12 games.
WOODLEY: Reed, White (Wilson), Turner, Nicholls, I. Kamara, Porter, Hinds (Samuel-Harmen), Guze, Beckett, Horscroft, Davies. Subs not used: Prestidge, Cooper, Barley.
