CHILDREN from the borough’s schools came together to entertain the Mayor for the annual primary schools’ carol concert.

A total of 23 schools took part in the singing, which was accompanied by the Berkshire Maestro’s Corelli Orchestra and musical director James Baker.

A collection was held for the mayor’s chosen charities: an initiative called Cancer Champions with the local support group Involve, and the Royal Berkshire Hospital Support Group.

Borough Mayor Cllr Rob Stanton said: “I was delighted by the turnout.

“The money we have raised at the concert will be go to helping and supporting those in the borough with cancer through the Royal Berkshire Hospital Support Group and my own initiative.

“Unfortunately I was diagnosed with cancer three years ago, and the care I received was superb and I am delighted that the money raised will go towards enabling the Royal Berkshire Hospital Support Group to continue their top-quality cancer care.

“The choir and orchestra, were, as always, outstanding.”
