Families invited to the Bacon Butty Walk
FAMILIES are being invited to take part in a traditional New Year’s Day walk around Crowthorne.
Organised by the Rotary Club of
Crowthorne and Sandhurst, the event is a twomile route through woodlands at Wellington College, off Dukes Ride.
There is a special trail for children, and walkers with dogs on leads are also welcome.
The Rotary Club said that walking boots are advised, especially if it rains the night before.
Mary Jearey said: “The event is known to some locals as the ‘Bacon Butty Walk’ as Rotary volunteers sell bacon butties, tea, coffee and soft drinks to walkers. Funds raised are donated to the Rotary Club’s charities.”
Previous recipients have included Crowthorne charity COATS, Children in Need, Crowthorne Brownies’ new HQ Fund and Sandhurst Scouts.
Donations are also made annually for student prizes at Edgbarrow and Sandhurst Schools.
The event takes place from 11am to 2pm. For more details, log on to www.rc-cs.org or call 07826 573509.
In the event of adverse weather on the day, walkers are advised to keep an eye on the Club’s website and Facebook page for updates.
