Finch on top af­ter seven-goal thriller

RICHARD JOHN­SON bagged a sec­ond half hat-trick as Finchampstead won a se­v­en­goal thriller against West­wood United Re­serves.

Finches trailed the Di­vi­sion One strug­glers at The Me­mo­rial Park be­fore John­son net­ted in the 61st, 78th and 87th min­utes and Nick Payne grabbed a dra­matic stop­page time win­ner to com­plete a re­mark­able turn­around.

The 4-3 win sees Finches sit fifth go­ing into the Christ­mas break.

HURST are up to sixth fol­low­ing their 2-0 win over Maiden­head Town thanks to a Shaun Ban­non brace.

Up in the Pre­mier Di­vi­sion, WOOD­LEY UNITED ROY­ALS be­came the first side all sea­son to lose against Taplow United.

Still rooted to the foot of the ta­ble, Taplow claimed a

2-1 vic­tory de­spite a Sam Guze strike for Wood­ley.

Ed­ward Ram­sey’s early goal came in vain as WOK­ING­HAM AND EMM­BROOK RE­SERVES were beaten 4-1 at home by West­wood United.

John Smith net­ted a tre­ble to help AFC CORINTHIANS to a 4-3 win over South Read­ing in Di­vi­sion 2.

Baily Full­brook also net­ted in the win, which ended Read­ing’s un­beaten record.

FC WOOD­LEY are still well clear at the top af­ter thrash­ing Berks County Rovers 4-1 with goals from Liam Be­sant, Ben­jamin Clark, Ricky Pel­ham and Christo­pher War­ing.

In Di­vi­sion 3, WAR­GRAVE were de­nied by a last-gasp equaliser against Maiden­head Town Re­serves.

Dan Pat­ter­son’s penalty looked like be­ing enough but War­grave ended with just one point and nine men fol­low­ing red cards for Ben Carter and Stu­art Moss.

HURST A were beaten 4-1 at home by Gor­ing United with Jamie Grainger scor­ing the only goal for the hosts.

WOOD­LEY UNITED B leapfrogged Gor­ing United Re­serves up into third place in Di­vi­sion 4 by beat­ing them 3-2.

Alex Hud­son’s first half goal saw Wood­ley pull the score back to 2-1 at the break and sec­ond half strikes from Cal­lum Fox-Spence and then Peter Ware­ing in stop­page time se­cured vic­tory.

Else­where HARCHESTER HAWKS are out of the BTC In­ter­me­di­ate Cup fol­low­ing a 3-2 loss at Read­ing YMCA Rapids, de­spite goals from Daniel Ad­kins and Daniel Leather.
