Young­sters wanted over taxi driver abuse

PO­LICE are hunt­ing a young gang who are ac­cused of racially abus­ing a taxi driver out­side a row of shops in Nor­reys.

The 43-year-old vic­tim was out­side the Bar­rett Cres­cent shop­ping pa­rade when the six-strong gang at­tacked him.

As well as hurl­ing ver­bal and racist abuse at him, they also threw some­thing at his taxi.

Thames Val­ley Po­lice are now ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses to the at­tack, which took place on Tues­day, June 5 around 6pm to 6.30pm.

One of the boys is de­scribed as around 16-year­sold, of mixed race, with pro­trud­ing ears.

An­other is de­scribed as slim and tall, of mixed race with a thin mous­tache, also around 16- years-old.

The other sus­pects are de­scribed as be­ing aged be­tween 12 and 16 and both male and fe­male.

In­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cer, PC He­len Craven based at Lod­don Val­ley Po­lice Sta­tion said: “Dur­ing this in­ci­dent, a man was ver­bally and racially abused by a group of young peo­ple.

“We would like to hear from any­one who saw this group be­fore or dur­ing the in­ci­dent.

“It is thought the same group were on the Nor­reys Es­tate be­tween 5.30pm and 6.45pm on the same evening and were seen throw­ing stones off peo­ple’s drive­ways.

“This group could be linked to sev­eral sim­i­lar in­ci­dents and we are keen to iden­tify the in­di­vid­u­als in­volved.
