Wok­ing­ham As cruise past Maiden­head

ALAN SYMONDSON skipped his rink to a big vic­tory as Wok­ing­ham A cruised past Maiden­head Town A in Di­vi­sion 1 of the Ken­net League.

Win­ning by 98 shots to 72, three of the four Wok­ing­ham rinks were vic­to­ri­ous, skipped by Symondson (30-10), John Scowen (25-24) and Trevor Gil­mour (20-14).

In the same league, WOK­ING­HAM B were beaten 84-70 at Brack­nell A, de­spite a great rink win for Terry Oakes, Eric Nathan, Barry Pither and Chris McFar­lane.

WOK­ING­HAM C trav­elled to Sut­tons B in Di­vi­sion 3 and were well beaten, 107-61 de­spite a rink win skipped by Ted Mel­ber.

In the Ken­net League Over 55s league, WOK­ING­HAM A made the trip to Sut­tons in Di­vi­sion 1 and came out with a tight 48-47 vic­tory with Gerry Deeves’ big open­ing win play­ing a key role

WOK­ING­HAM B beat Great Hol­lands A 50-32 with triples skipped by Pat Cleary and Bob Thomp­son do­ing the dam­age.

WOK­ING­HAM C lost 49-44 at HURST in Di­vi­sion 3 while WOK­ING­HAM D thrashed MAIDEN ER­LEGH C 63-38 with Keith Roberts the big­gest skip win­ner.

In the Thames Val­ley Ladies League, WOK­ING­HAM ACORNS eased past Is­land Bo­hemian 57-36 with the top triple skipped by San­dra Thomp­son along with Elaine Her­bert and Jill Thorne, while WOK­ING­HAM OAKAPPLES won 68-46 at Is­land Bo­hemian Cygnets with Cyndy Price-Fin­nie’s triple the high­est up with Joy Deeves and Bar­bara Woo­ley.

As usual there were some friendly games with Wok­ing­ham’s men beat­ing Great Hol­lands 101-91 while the ladies lost 56-47 to Royal House­hold.

In mixed games, Wok­ing­ham de­feated Hurst by 91 shots to 80 be­fore win­ning 113-99 against Tren­tham.

MAIDEN ER­LEGH played three friendlies this week. Cap­tained by Pam Dunn they were edged out 89-95 by Palmer Park while a Mark Hi­ley led side lost 117-90 against Wind­sor and Eton.

The third clash saw Maiden Er­legh lose 86-90 to Hen­ley on Thames, win­ning two rinks apiece, cap­tained by Vir­ginia Par­nell.

In league ac­tion, Robin Rap­ley’s rink helped Maiden Er­legh to a 104-52 win over Des­bor­ough B but the LV league team lost out 53-57 to Twyford.
