Wokingham As cruise past Maidenhead
ALAN SYMONDSON skipped his rink to a big victory as Wokingham A cruised past Maidenhead Town A in Division 1 of the Kennet League.
Winning by 98 shots to 72, three of the four Wokingham rinks were victorious, skipped by Symondson (30-10), John Scowen (25-24) and Trevor Gilmour (20-14).
In the same league, WOKINGHAM B were beaten 84-70 at Bracknell A, despite a great rink win for Terry Oakes, Eric Nathan, Barry Pither and Chris McFarlane.
WOKINGHAM C travelled to Suttons B in Division 3 and were well beaten, 107-61 despite a rink win skipped by Ted Melber.
In the Kennet League Over 55s league, WOKINGHAM A made the trip to Suttons in Division 1 and came out with a tight 48-47 victory with Gerry Deeves’ big opening win playing a key role
WOKINGHAM B beat Great Hollands A 50-32 with triples skipped by Pat Cleary and Bob Thompson doing the damage.
WOKINGHAM C lost 49-44 at HURST in Division 3 while WOKINGHAM D thrashed MAIDEN ERLEGH C 63-38 with Keith Roberts the biggest skip winner.
In the Thames Valley Ladies League, WOKINGHAM ACORNS eased past Island Bohemian 57-36 with the top triple skipped by Sandra Thompson along with Elaine Herbert and Jill Thorne, while WOKINGHAM OAKAPPLES won 68-46 at Island Bohemian Cygnets with Cyndy Price-Finnie’s triple the highest up with Joy Deeves and Barbara Wooley.
As usual there were some friendly games with Wokingham’s men beating Great Hollands 101-91 while the ladies lost 56-47 to Royal Household.
In mixed games, Wokingham defeated Hurst by 91 shots to 80 before winning 113-99 against Trentham.
MAIDEN ERLEGH played three friendlies this week. Captained by Pam Dunn they were edged out 89-95 by Palmer Park while a Mark Hiley led side lost 117-90 against Windsor and Eton.
The third clash saw Maiden Erlegh lose 86-90 to Henley on Thames, winning two rinks apiece, captained by Virginia Parnell.
In league action, Robin Rapley’s rink helped Maiden Erlegh to a 104-52 win over Desborough B but the LV league team lost out 53-57 to Twyford.
