On the wrong tracks
THE COUNCIL is not in favour of building a new railway station at Thames Valley Park, instead preferring to explore mass rapid transit routes.
Executive member for highways and transport, Cllr Anthony Pollock, explained that although the 2001 local transport plan mentioned the station, all versions from 2006 onwards have not included one.
He was answering a question from resident Jenny Lissaman who wanted to know why the plan had been dropped.
Cllr Pollock said that the borough worked with its neighbours and transport companies to form policies. “It is through this arrangement that the most appropriate and most deliverable transport priorities can be identified.”
Ms Lissaman then asked if the electrification of the railway line made the station a possibility. Cllr Pollock promised to ask the question.
