Victory sees Bracknell climb up table
BRACKNELL climbed out of the relegation zone with a hard-fought bonus-point win over Drybrook at Lily Hill Park.
Conor Segre, Gabe Hills and Elliott Bellman were among the scorers for the hosts as they held off their struggling opponents to clinch victory.
Bracknell handed a debut to flanker Thomas Spencer-Jones while Jason Henry also returned to the side.
And the early pressure paid off when Segre got on the end of a Sam Gibbons pass to open the lead after five minutes.
Drybrook reduced the arrears with a penalty and then went ahead through forward Kyle Frowen’s try.
But Bracknell responded well to go back in front with Hills weaving his way through before pulling clear with Segre scoring again following good work by Cam McDonald.
Leading 19-8 at the break, the home side sealed a bonus point early in the second half with Bellman dotting down off a driving maul.
But Drybrook would not roll over easily as Mitch Baldwin scored before the lead was cut to just four points.
A suspected broken ankle to visiting Dec Fissendon held the game up for over 10 minutes, but when the game resumed a Vic Hardwicke penalty pulled Bracknell clear to win.
