The Somerton Division of Beekeepers promotes awareness and understanding of the bee and its benefits. It is one of the largest of 12 divisions in Somerset, with more than 200 members ranging from complete novices to highly experienced, national prize winners.

“We are always looking for newcomers so regularly run beginner courses,” says member, David Rose. “There is a theory course through winter and then practical sessions throughout the spring and summer at our new apiary in Long Sutton.”

The group will bring an observation hive to the festival so visitors can see the bees hard at work. There’s also an opportunity to taste a variety of honeys and other products produced with honey, including chutneys, cakes and honey fudge.
