NORWICH

Norwich Cathedral, which hit the headlines last year with its helter skelter (below), is preparing to host a prehistoric guest: the Natural History Museum’s iconic dinosaur, Dippy, who for many years took centre stage in the museum’s Hintze Hall. Dippy will take up residence in the nave of Norwich Cathedral from 11 July until 31 October, with the centuries-old architecture providing a stunning backdrop for the famous 26-metre-long dinosaur on the final stop of his eight-venue tour.

The Dean of Norwich, the Very Reverend Jane Hedges, says, “Historically, naves in churches and cathedrals have been used for a wide variety of activities, and we hope Dippy’s visit will bring great joy to children and adults alike.” It is hoped the visit will also encourage “debate about the relationship between faith and science and we look forward to the cathedral playing a part in many thought-provoking conversations.” cathedral.org.uk
