Spring at last! Here in the Northern Hemisphere, the dark days are behind us, the snow drops are out and the daffodils are about to bloom. I’m sure many of you have been thinking about where to go next during those horrid winter months, and I hope you will find some inspiration in this issue for future plans.
Here you can travel to Cambodia, Italy, Egypt, Turkey, Australia, India, England and Amsterdam. Our intrepid traveller is back, and this time it is the wonderful Fanny Parkes. Fanny lived in India at the height of colonialism and William Dalrymple brings her delightful writing to our attention. Find out things you didn’t know about Hilary Bradt, the founder of the Bradt Travel Guides (which concentrate on the road less travelled), and new to this issue is a book review section.
On the arts side we find out about Florence’s first female painter, Sister Nelli and the treasures collected by the travelling Earls of Burghley House. There is also a focus on the new community paintings coming from the Australian outback. So another packed issue which I hope you enjoy.
