Getting there

Timeless Travels Magazine - - PERU -

There are buses from Lima (6-8 hours), Cusco (14 hours) and Arequipa (9 hours) and many small buses (collectivos) from Ica (3 hours.)

The best way to see the Nazca Lines is from the air and there are a limited number of operators. They offer transport to and from the city centre and flights cost about 75-85 US$ per seat (plus airport tax of 25 soles). You can book your flights directly at the airport or at an official agency (there is one called Aeroparacas near the bus drop off point). Tips to booking a flight:

• There is no ATM at the airport and some of the smaller/ cheaper operators might not have a working credit card machine so take cash

• Only consider booking a flight in the high season (December to March), as the flights last 30 minutes and go all day from 7 am to 4 pm

• Never deal with touts at the bus stop for a flight or a hotel. Accidents have happened so book with a respectable/ creditable agency

• Note that the smaller planes with wing supports can obscure your view but will be cheaper to book
