This issue is a milestone for Timeless Travels. Three years ago the magazine was launched as a digital publication and last Summer it went into the shops in the UK . This issue will now be on sale worldwide. So I would like to extend a warm welcome to our overseas readers of the printed edition, which I hope you enjoy.
And there is much to explore in this Summer issue. From the archaeological trenches at Pella in Jordan to the city of Dresden with its strong art background via the cliff-top monasteries of Meteora in Greece and the renowned women to be found in Sante Croce in Florence, there is much to keep you busy.
Canada is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2017 so we have the top ten historical sites to see in Ottawa and there is a visit to the lesser-known temples and grottoes in Eastern China which are definitely recommended for your bucket list. Our interviewee is the illustrious Zahi Hawass, perhaps the most famous Egyptologist in the world and our intrepid traveller is Doreen Ingrams, the first European woman to live in the Hadramaut (Yemen).
In March the magazine was nominated for two awards by the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions and we were delighted to be chosen runner up for 'Best Arts Feature in 2016' for our article on Vermeer. So this is a timely opportunity to thank all our writers for their fantastic contributions over the past three years. Their work has been tremendous. Thank you!
