Europe by rail, and for over two decades this de­light­ful guide has helped to shape the travel plans of those ex­plor­ing Europe by train.

This fas­ci­nat­ing book sets out 50 key rail routes which cap­ture the best that Europe has to of­fer. There are also tips on tick­et­ing, fares, route choices and ac­com­mo­da­tion for plan­ning your jour­ney by train across Europe. In the lat­est edi­tion new routes have been in­cluded that high­light the rich desti­na­tions that await the in­quis­i­tive trav­eller.

In tune with the des­ti­na­tion as well as the jour­ney, the au­thors also take the trou­ble to tweak past routes to re­flect cur­rent an­niver­saries. For ex­am­ple, as this edi­tion of the book was pub­lished on the cen­te­nary of the 1917 Bol­she­vik revo­lu­tion, they have ex­tended route 30 which roughly fol­lows Lenin’s route back to Pet­ro­grad, to in­clude St. Peters­burg. They even rec­om­mend what to read on the jour­ney!

This guide most cer­tainly lives up to its name: it is a most de­fin­i­tive guide, and is packed with all the in­for­ma­tion that you will need to plan your rail travel across the con­ti­nent. Do not leave home with­out it.
