Down at heel?

Your putter’s lie angle could sabotage your stroke. Here’s how to check.

Fault: Pulled putts, caused by a toe-high putter at address Fix: Align the shaft with your forearms… and check the blade sits flat

Before we get into putting, take your wedge and sit it so its sole is flush with the ground. Now drop the handle so the toe rises; see how the loft causes the face to look left (for righthanders). The same effect occurs with the putter. It may be your least-lofted club in the bag, but it still has some loft on its face – typically 2.5 or 3º – and as soon as the toe rises, that loft causes the face to aim left. It’s only slight, but enough to cause missed putts. Here’s how you can check if this is a problem for you... and how you can address it.
