ATTACK ANGLE 5º UP
The fastest way to hit the ball further is to raise your attack angle. It allows you to create launch without adding loft, keeping spin down and boosting ball speeds. A 5º-up impact angle is often quoted as a great target; Trackman figures show that by changing from 5º down to 5º up, a 90mph swinger can add around 30 yards to a 200-yard drive. Despite this, most tour pros and amateurs still strike down by around 1º. One exception is Justin Thomas, whose attack – measured at 4.8º up – contributes to his surprising power.
