Getting golf fit
Want to reach your 10,000 steps a day? Get down the golf course, says Macmillan Cancer Support. While it’s true that golf is not the most physical exerting sport, you can still burn plenty of calories to justify that bacon bap or pasty at the halfway house.
During a single round of golf, the cancer charity estimates that players walk between four to eight miles, taking an average of 13,234 steps every time, and – when carrying golf clubs – burning 1,564 calories. Slaving away for 18 holes also amounts to 240 minutes of moderate intensity activity. Now if that’s not worth an extra pint in the bar afterwards, we don’t know what is!
