Even though it’s a shorter backswing, you still need to generate speed through the hitting area and finish with a big turn so your hips and chest are facing the target. If you decelerate into impact and stop your body rotating, the natural reaction is to hang back and let the arms and hands flip over, rotating the face too much. The body and arms need to work in sync so try to feel like you’re covering the ball with your chest at impact and then concentrat­e on making a smooth, accelerate­d swing.
