Control your strike point in sand for more consistency.

One of the biggest issues for amateurs in sand is ensuring the clubhead meets the sand at the right point. In the ideal strike, the club enters the sand an inch or so behind the ball, creating a controlled cushion of sand between ball and clubface. Anything much heavier than this muffles impact; anything much cleaner risks firing the ball over the green. The key to mastering the perfect sand impact lies in steadying the low point of the swing’s arc and creating the relatively level attack angle that promotes a controlled, shallow sand divot. Use these four steps to find the perfect strike.
