We’re always keen to learn about your MX-5S whether they’re standard or modified, pristine or travel-scarred, road warriors or track beasts.

PHILIP STANIFORD, UK. MK1 1.6 TURBO

Until Philip rocked up with £180, this 1990 mk1 was headed to the scrapheap. Two years on it’s running with a TD04 turbo and competes in the Fueltopia

Barrel Sprint and Formula G.

KIMMI HARMAN, UK. MK2 AUTOKONEXION KIT

Four years on, Kimmi’s mk2 looks very different to when he first got it, thanks to an Autokonexion wide-body kit, one of only two outside the USA. And you’d never guess the car’s done 150,000 miles.

LUKE FLEAR, UK. MK1 1.8

You’ve got to admire a bloke who sticks with it – Luke has gone through three refurbished engines in three years! Although it’s a show car, Luke also uses it to commute to and from work.

SHAUN HOWORTH, UK. MK2 1.8 S

You might have guessed from the picture that Shaun – ‘half of Redtop Racing’ – uses his car for motorsport, in Formula G Competitive Gymkhana. He’s owned the 130,000-mile car for two and a half years.

SEB WARE, UK. EUNOS ROADSTER TURBO

Bought just a year ago as a standard car, Seb’s mk1 is now running with a TD04 turbocharger and ‘a handful of JDM garnish’. The hardtop is a rare Kanspo item. Seb uses the car daily, and shows it too.

JEREMY CRAWSHAW, UK. MK1 MERLOT LIMITED EDITION

Looking as glorious as it did when it was new, Jeremy’s 107,000-mile Merlot was subject to a body restoration last year. ‘The car is totally standard and will always stay that way,’ he asserts.

CHRIS HACKETT, UK. MK3 Z-SPORT

As retirement presents to yourself go, a Radiant Ebony mk3 Z-sport is a top choice. Chris bought it from the original owner back in 2008, and the odometer is only just coming up to 10,000 miles.

ANN LEWENDON, UK. MK2 ICON

‘Elvis’ is Ann’s pride and joy, having bought it from her son three years ago: it’s her third MX-5 and her favourite. Not shy about her age she says, ‘I’m 60 and will drive MX-5S for as long as I’m able.’

TRACEY HEATH, UK. MK2.5

An award-winner at MX-5 Owners Club National Rallies, Tracey ‘spends too much time prepping it for shows’. All the effort looks worth it, though. When not on a show stand, it’s a weekend toy.

DUDLEY DAVIES, UK. MK2 SPORT LIMITED EDITION

Used mainly as a weekend toy, Dudley’s mk2 Sport is one of only 300 produced for the UK market. The car’s a regular on the Mx5driver.com stand at local shows in the southeast of the country.
