630-mile relay record

Trail Running (UK) - - Warm- Up -

A relay team of ten (with a support crew of five) has run the 630mile South West Coast Path in an FKT of 5 days, 3hr and 33min – crossing all estuaries manually. “The logistics for the kayak were particularly challenging,” organiser Bez Berry tells TR. “But it worked like a dream.” Runners would run for about 60-90min, but pair up and run up to 13 miles at a time in the dark. I was surprised how seriously people took it – everyone ran as if it was a race and came in absolutely spent.”

The majority of the runners hadn’t done any ultra-running before. “There were lots of tears and some went to places mentally and physically they hadn’t been before. But everyone was buzzing at the end and asking about the next challenge!”
