5 essential bits of kit for a SwimRun

Don’t get caught in the cold without these

Trail Running (UK) - - Big Interview -

SwimRunning naturally requires more kit than your average trail run, but you don’t need two completely separate outfits. Follow the lead of Ötillö athletes with this round-up:

1 WETSUIT Either pick one that you’re going to take off at each transition (like for the FGR) or a SwimRun specific model, like the Head SwimRun Base, and run in it as well.

2 SHOES Fancy Goretex shoes are going to be of little help here – you need breathable kicks that drain well.

3 HAND PADDLES These help to propel you through the water by increasing resistance.

4 DRY BAG For the FGR, a waterproof dry bag to store your kit during swims is essential.

5 FLOAT A float between your legs on swims helps to rest them for running sections.
