“Weight train­ing is like any­thing, A Dar­ren,” says strength coach Jonny Ja­cobs. “You just have to make time. Could you swap one of your run­ning ses­sions for a weights ses­sion? Also, one of the com­mon mis­con­cep­tions of strength train­ing is that ses­sions need to last for hours. Be con­struc­tive with your time and what it is that you want to achieve. For ex­am­ple, per­form squats over leg ex­ten­sions and dead­lifts in­stead of ham­string curls – opt for multi-joint move­ments that com­ple­ment run­ning.” You’ll soon see an in­crease in your power, and a lower risk of in­jury.
