Isle of Eigg Inner Hebrides

Trail Running (UK) - - Routes -

This is a stunning route, which provides outstanding views over the Isle of Eigg, across the cliffs above Cleadale, where very few people venture and the white-tailed eagles soar. This route crosses croftland through the township of Howlin before climbing 1000ft up the zigzag path. From the top of the cliffs, the track winds above the Cleadale crofts and provides amazing views over the Cuillins of Rum and Skye. The run finishes above your start point, where an exciting little scramble leads you down the cliffs to the most scenic washing line in the Hebrides, outside Lageorna guest house.

Eigg has lots to explore and one of the best wild camping spots in Scotland – why not stay and try some of the excellent mountain biking or sea kayaking while you’re there? Laraine Wyn-Jones, Trail Running Run1000Miles group www.eiggadventures.co.uk @eiggadventures
