BEETROOT GIVES A BOOST

The en­durance ef­fects of beetroot have been well doc­u­mented – its high lev­els of ni­trate al­low for peak oxy­gen up­take, which makes ex­er­cise less tir­ing. A new study, at In­di­ana Univer­sity, has not only con­firmed this, but an­a­lysed the ef­fect of beetroot, find­ing that it in­creased ex­er­cise ca­pac­ity by re­duc­ing oxy­gen re­quired.
