Mountain history online
Mountaineer Joe Tasker trained as a Catholic priest before becoming a highly accomplished climber, writer and photographer. His legacy has been commemorated in the annual Boardman Tasker Award for mountain literature and in
Savage Arena, an exhibition about his life, which will be on display at the Blencathra Centre from the end of the month. If you can’t make it there, or can’t wait, you can also see it online, right now. A collection of photographs, postcards, notes, old kit and video footage give a fascinating glimpse into the sharp end of mountaineering in the Seventies. www.mountain-heritage.org/tasker-exhibition/
