Go wild swimming

-

1 With months of summer sun to warm the water, high mountain lakes are at least slightly less Baltic than they have been throughout the summer – and you still have the chance of a little sunshine to dry off in. A quick splash and dash is an unbeatable refresh for sweaty bodies and aching limbs after a day on the hill. There are lochans all over Scotland, tarns dotted throughout the Lakes and llyns everywhere in Wales but Dartmoor is teeming with idyllic little spots. This one includes ancient woodland, an impressive tor and a tea room – so you can warm your cockles after nearly freezing them off.
