According to the rose-tinted, spectacle wearing doom-mongers, “we don’t make anything in this country anymore.” Well, this here rucksack is made in Nottingham, right here in Blighty. Of course, that only really matters if the end result is any good… which it is. The Ibex is an uncomplicated but adaptable 50+10 litre pack that can be used as is for general trekking, or – if you really want to strip it back – the bungee cords, compression straps, waist belt, back stiffener, ice axe loops and even the floating lid can be removed, taking the pack weight down from a perfectly acceptable 1450g (bear in mind the pack’s constructed from a mix of bombproof Cordura and sail cloth fabric) to a svelte 795g. The Ibex is available in two back lengths and, on top of everything else, comes equipped with Alpkit’s 25-year ‘Alpine Bond’ guarantee.

WE SAY UK made, tough as old boots, and really rather good.
