£130 Men's S-XXL Women's none Weight 467g (size L) Outer nylon Insulation Hydroloft Elite

IT'S GOOD

To enhance performance while keeping weight down, this jacket uses body mapping, placing the insulation where it's most needed, so there is more fill on the front and at the top of the arms. Less insulation is provided down the sides and under the arms with a medium level in the remaining areas. There is no hood, but you do get a soft lining to the collar. There is a hem drawcord too. The two main pockets are zipped and map sized and there is a smaller zipped chest pocket. There is a good level of warmth for hillwalkers and the fit is reasonable, with no cuff or hem movement.

HOWEVER

There's no women's style so that limits who this will fit. The cuffs are elasticated with no extra adjustment. Not having a hood is a drawback for use on hills or sitting in a campsite, so you will need a good hat. While the fit is acceptable, others are closer and neater. The chest pocket won’t take an OS map unfolded, which may niggle, and a rucksack hip belt will impede access to the lower pockets.

VERDICT

If you don’t need a hood, this offers a good level of insulation for summit brews and camping, as well as being reasonably lightweight and packable.
