We love the British weather. The rain. The grey. The cold… It makes us hardy hillwalkers, equipped to take on anything, anywhere. It makes that post-walk drink next to the fire just heavenly. And when we do get that first glimpse of summer, via a little warmth in the air, it makes us euphoric with appreciation. But as much as we love the British hills, there’s a big world out there full of awe-inspiring views – and much better weather! Now’s the perfect time to leap into spring with a walking holiday abroad...

Enjoy the hillwalking wonders of Tenerife where the balmy climate entices walkers all year round. Les Roques de Garcia in Teide National Park (left) is where you’ll find basalt formations that defy gravity and Spain’s highest mountain, Mount Teide: an impressive 3718m high volcanic crater peak. You can go from warm dramatic coastline to lunar-like mountain tops in a day – all in a walking holiday to this Canary Island better known for its sunbathing. Take inspiration, then ride out the end of the winter this year with your own short jaunt to foreign climes.
