SH606582 Exit the car park to go right (south-easterly) down the road. A path on the right helps avoid the road in places. Continue to Cae Perthi on the left (near the hamlet of Gwastadnant) and here take the signposted footpath up a track passing two cottages to continue on a path (crossing any stiles encountered) that draws near the Afon Las as it improves. As you continue up Cwm Padrig the path climbs steeply through rocky and craggy ground to cut left of a rock buttress and then cut right through more rocks to continue into upper Cwm Padrig. Continue climbing easterly near the Afon Las, following the path to reach Llyn y Cwn.

SH636585 Continue ahead to a path T-junction. Go left taking a path to fork right at a split and cross the right of two stiles. Rise on the path beyond to join Y Garn’s south-east ridge and continue left close to the edge with the drop into Cwm Clyd to your right. Rise to join a path near Y Garn’s summit and continue ahead to the mountain’s summit cairn.

SH630595 Descend north-westerly from the summit of Y Garn, keeping the drop into Cwm Cywion to your right. Follow the path past cairns zigzagging down to a col at the head of Cwm Cywion (right). Ignoring the better path that bypasses Foel Goch, take a right fork at a junction to continue northerly with the ridge to climb over a small grassy bump and descend slightly to Bwlch y Cywion. Rise northerly beyond to the summit of Foel Goch.

SH628612 From the summit of Foel Goch take a descending path north-westerly to zigzag down rough ground and go right on a good path at a junction. Descend to curve left around Bwlch y Brecan at the head of Cwm Dudodyn. Continue westerly to follow a steep rising path and climb to the ridge above Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir. Climb through rock bands on a bouldery path to reach the wind shelter and summit cairn on the top of Elidir Fawr.

SH612613 From between the wind shelter and the summit cairn on Elidir Fawr, drop down southerly on a vague path through boulders aiming for a better path below the boulders. When you reach this go right on it (southerly). Follow the obvious path steeply down in a generally southerly direction to reach a bridge over the Afon Dudodyn at SH608595. Cross the bridge to take the path right beyond, eventually curving left and continuing to zigzag down near a wall. Follow the descending path to go left on a lane and follow this down past the cottage of Nant yr Fron and a campsite to reach the main road at Nant Peris. Go left to walk through the village past the Vaynol Arms back to the car park.
