Trout Fisherman (UK) - - Where To Fish UK Waters -

MENTIONED in the Domesday Book, Coltsford Mill is an exclusive 12-acre estate, on which two lakes give the angler a total of four acres of picturesque trout water. Willow and Mill lakes are fed by the River Eden, and stocked with hard-fighting rainbow and brown trout, grown on-site, from 2lb up to ‘doubles’. Two cascades are also fed by the river, providing anglers with additional stretches of aerated running water in delightful surroundings. Mill Lake covers a total area of 2.5 acres and average 7-8 feet in depth, with deeper areas of over 10 feet. A well-established water, it offers the he chance to fish natural patterns with a floating line, such as nymphs, Buzzers and dry flies. Willow Lake covers one-and-a-half acres and is deeper than Mill Lake, so fishing heavier lines with lures is consistently the best method for success. Day and evening tickets are available but advance booking by phone or email is strongly advised, as the fishery is frequently full. All anglers have the use of the fishery’s clubhouse with full bar facilities, a fisherman’s lodge and a tackle shop. Rod and net hire are available, as is pre-booked tuition for novices. The estate also welcomes corporate and other group flyfishing bookings as a speciality. It can tailor-make any event from small group bookings to larger events and also offers multi-activity and team-building days.
