Trout Fisherman (UK) - - Where To Fish -

HADDO is situated amid magnificent scenery in north-east Scotland. Covering around five acres and averaging five foot in depth, the 15-year-old fishery offers fishing by rowing boat or float-tube only (float-tubes provided, but bring your own waders) and stocks rainbow, blue and brown trout at a range of sizes that go well into double figures. Five boats serve the loch, with a maximum of 10 rods permitted on the water at any one time. Children’s spinning and bait fishing can also be arranged. Refreshments are available at the fishing hut, as is a barbecue area. Rods may be hired and flies and terminal equipment are on sale. Should the day call for a fly you don’t have, there is a fly-tying area with equipment and materials available. The loch generally operates on a catch and release basis, with no bag limits, though a rainbow trout in excellent condition could be kept for eating at the angler’s discretion. The largest rainbow caught at Haddo weighed in at 18lb 12oz, while the record for most trout caught and released in a four-hour session is 51.
