HARELAW TROUT FISHERY

Trout Fisherman (UK) - - Where To Fish -

This shallow reservoir, say the owners, will give you some of the best top-of-the-water fishing in Scotland, with powerful takes from wellconditioned trout. The 100-acre water averages just eight feet in depth and goes no deeper than 11 feet. It offers three miles of bank fishing or eight boats, complete with electric engines and two batteries per boat. The venue is stocked throughout the season with rainbow and blue trout and is also blessed with a natural head of wild browns (all browns go back). Stock sizes range from 2.5lb to 5lb. Hatches include olives (all season), caenis, heather fly and flying ants. Best flies for the angler are Buzzers, CdCs, Kate McLarens, Snatchers, Hoppers and Daddies. Also, general lures, such as Blobs, Cat’s Whiskers and Damsels. A spacious lodge offers tea, coffee, and snacks, plus a warm fire. Life-jackets, drogues, nets and anchors can be borrowed. Tuition can be arranged with adequate notice and corporate and club bookings are welcome.
