VISION’s new top of the range waders are designed with comfort in mind from the choice of high-tech fabric to the seam technology. The waders are made from Vision’s 37.5 fabric, which they say will attract and release moisture that builds up inside the waders more effectively than ever before. By reacting to your body’s temperature, it also helps to keep you dry and cool. A heavier duty, textured but still supple fabric has been used from the waist down, and a lighter fabric with a smoother finish from the waist up. Both have a DWR finish so water just beads off, and the backing fabric is very smooth so just glides over your undergarments. All seams feature ultrasonic technology, so no stitching, instead the joins are welded. This not only produces a waterproof seam, especially when backed up by the tape on the inside, but it also makes for a less bulky seam. I take a medium-short size across all Vision waders and to my relief it was the same with the Scout. However, the cut is different to what I am used to with a roomier fitting around the thighs, knees and chest. Initially I thought there was too much extra room built in, but when you start walking, bending and sitting in the waders you realise the reason for this, they are very comfortable indeed.

1

The braces, made from the same material as the wading belt, are adjustable and detachable at the front with two opposing quick-release buckles. A triangular spreader bar at the back prevents them from twisting or falling off your shoulders. Located just under the braces are two triangular quick-release clips in protective housings, ideal for hanging accessories or a tool bar.

2

The chest pocket has a YKK Aquaseal zipper so is waterproof so long as it is securely closed. It’s quite a big pocket divided into three open compartments. On the inside is a flip-out pouch, which is actually three pockets in one: two are zipped and one has a velcro closure.

3

Two welded belt loops lie flat against the body of the waders, and take a 1.5-inch wide elasticated webbing belt that is both adjustable and detachable and features a quick-release buckle.

The neoprene socks, fully taped on the outside for extra durability, are really well fitting. The quality gravel guards feature a heavily elasticated cuff and rubber grip strip on the inside, giving a good non-slip seal around the boots. A metal lace hook keeps everything in place.

VERDICT:

The waders are very comfortable and the cut allows for very good freedom of movement. The new fabric kept me cool and less clammy, especially on warmer, humid days. Great pocket layout and very comfortable neoprene socks.
