Hemingway’s Peacock Dubbing £2.99
THIS synthetic dubbing is made up of long fibres with added flash in the form of a very fine tinsel. This gives it an enticing iridescent effect and adds a wonderful 3D translucency to a fly. The fibres are really soft and when you pull the dubbing apart it is very light and airy which makes it very easy to dub with. Because the fibres are long you can easily rope it up using the lightest of pressure between your thumb and forefinger. Then tie the end of this rope onto the hook shank and wrap it around like a fine chenille, as I have done for the CDC Buzzer (right) using the red dubbing. It is the perfect dubbing for tying nymphs and wets, and it also produces a tight enough body for dry flies. Its flash and shine also makes it ideal as a hotspot enhancer whether it be as a thorax or just to finish off a head. There are 10 standard colours – black, blue, bronze, dark green, gold, green, peacock eye, red and reddish, brown, and five with an electric-blue UV sparkle – UV olive, UV orange, UV black, UV bronze and UV green. Also available in a Hemingway’s peacock dubbing box containing 12 colours for £16.99.
