LO­CATED eight miles west of Hex­ham in the Northum­brian hills, Lan­g­ley Dam con­tin­ues to of­fer great value sport af­ter 30 years, of­fer­ing pre­dom­i­nantly rain­bow trout and a mix of brown, blue and tiger trout. Fish are gen­er­ally stocked up to 6lb, al­though some big­ger fish from 10lb to 18lb are added reg­u­larly. Five two-man boats are avail­able for ad­vance book­ing (an­glers may bring their own elec­tric mo­tors) and there is am­ple room for both bank fish­ing and wad­ing. The lodge of­fers a pleas­ant room in which to re­lax dur­ing the day’s fish­ing. Tea, cof­fee, cans of soft drinks and a small range of snacks are avail­able. There is also am­ple car-park­ing and toi­let fa­cil­i­ties with dis­abled ac­cess. Gift vouch­ers are avail­able, as are rods for hire and the fish­ery can rec­om­mend lo­cal in­struc­tors for any­one seek­ing formal tuition. The size of Lan­g­ley makes it an ideal venue for club book­ings or ex­clu­sive parties. The fish­ery can ar­range cater­ing lo­cally or pro­vide a BBQ. Lan­g­ley Dam en­cour­ages fish­ing for all, with a reg­u­lar ju­niors’ com­pe­ti­tion and days for dis­abled an­glers. If you are wor­ried about ac­cess to the lake please ring ahead and the fish­ery will do its best to en­sure that it gets you fish­ing.
