Probably the most famous of all Yorkshire’s fly-fishing rivers, this beat’s mixture of runs, pools, riffles, glides and pocket water lends itself to all fly-fishing methods. The club’s water starts just above Linton stepping stones, running downstream to Barden Bridge and it is mainly double bank. It holds both wild and some stocked brown trout and also grayling. Good numbers of mayflies, stoneflies, caseless caddis and terrestrial insects are present and fish respond well in particular to dry flies, nymphs or Spiders. ADDRESS Burnsall, near Skipton, North Yorkshire, BD23 6BU (brings you to the Red Lion). A detailed map of the beat can be found at the club website below.
