GREASE THAT LEADER WHEN NYMPHING
Beginners in particular agonise over detecting takes when using flies that are literally motionless. The culprits here are those who would have that it nymphing requires a sixth sense for success. Given a mirror-like surface, a partially-greased leader stands out even at range (diagram 1). Here, we can watch the indentation of a floating leader butt for any signs of deviation that might suggest a taking fish.
