Dog biscuits to tempt carp

Trout Fisherman (UK) - - Advice Squad -

QWhat is the best make of dog biscuits when fly-fishing for carp? Andrew Davies PETER COCKWILL REPLIES: If you mean the actual dog biscuit, rather than the fly pattern, I honestly don't think it matters much what make you go for. I now buy bulk bags of dog biscuits (25kg) from animal feed merchants because I get through a lot of biscuits each summer when guiding, and even occasionally fishing for myself. As for the fly pattern, one deer hair dog biscuit fly might look much like another but the colour can vary as well as how tight the deer hair is spun. The tighter it is the more compact and therefore the more buoyant the fly. Carp are super smart and you will quickly find that it pays to have some variety with your patterns.
