Vision Tossu Gummi wading boots £169.99

Trout Fisherman (UK) - - Tackle -

VISION’S latest wading boot offering is very well built and offers a lot of protection. They’ve gone for a totally new moulded EVA mid sole and connected the upper and lower sections by gluing and stitching the pieces together. The toe box, which takes the most amount of knocks and pressure, is rock solid with hardly any flex. This impressive protection has been enhanced with a substantial rubber toe bumper. The result is a robust, durable and stable platform on which to walk and wade. The sole is the ‘Gummi’ sticky rubber with a disc pattern tread which isn’t overly aggressive but which is great for a wide range of underfoot conditions ranging from grass and silt to shingle and slippery rocks. If you require even more grip you can add tungsten studs (Vision’s are £24.99 for 20) and there is a useful information sheet in the box telling you how and where best to place them. The upper part of the boot is made from a hardwearing synthetic fabric that is padded around the ankle and ankle cuff. There is a sewn-in padded tongue with a metal D-ring for the wader gravel guard hook, and the boot has four pairs of webbing lace loops and two pairs of metal lace hooks. There’s a webbing pull tab on the back and a thin EVA insole which can be removed for ease of cleaning. The boots are available in UK sizes 5 to 13, and are also available with a felt sole for £129.99.

VERDICT:

Quality wading boots, not only offering comfort but also stability, support and protection. The moulded EVA mid sole works its magic when you are on the move as you just ‘roll’ along. Although offering heavy protection the boots still feel reasonably lightweight when covering distance and they have a nice wide fit so there’s plenty of wiggle room for your toes.
