WHAT TIME OF YEAR IS BEST FOR NYMPHING?
Spring is often regarded as the prime window for the nymph fisher when the likes of buzzers, or lake olives are in season. That said, nymphing tactics can be employed at anytime of the year. Winter months in particular are a favourite period, especially on hard-fished waters. Now, trout that have seen it all are more likely to respond to the softly, softly approach. We need to remember winter is when all the nymphs of emergent insects are busy developing beneath the waves!
