OWN A FAMOUS TAY BEAT
Sought-after Dunkeld House offers two miles of prized fishing
In recent seasons the Tay’s opening ceremony has taken place on the Dunkeld House beat and fish can be expected from the first day of the season – January 15 – through to the season’s close on October 15. The beat is now for sale. Situated on the middle Tay immediately above Dunkeld Bridge, 12 miles from Perth, the beat extends to two miles of double bank with 14 named pools currently fished by two boats, each hosting two rods, and a further four bank rods. There is a five-year average of 182.2 salmon and grilse (240 in 2013; 268 in 2015) with May (37.6) being the most prolific month. The Tay has an annual average catch exceeding 6,000 fish. There is vehicular and pedestrian access and the banks have been well maintained. A site for a new fishing hut has been identified. Offers of over £875,000 are sought by CKD Galbraith’s Perth office (01738 451 111).
The beat averages more than 180 fish per year.
