THE EDITOR’S Letter [T&S, April] criticises the Scottish Government for not finding the “extra £3 million or so” to run Fishery Management Organisations. There is also a reminder that Scottish anglers opposed the introduction of a rod licence. Should not these two facts be connected? Scots, above all, should know that he who pays the piper calls the tune. The Americans put it more bluntly; they talk of having skin in the game. Scottish anglers would be wiser to demand a rod licence system, then they might get more attention. Chris James, Conwy
