More breathable, more water-resistant and lighter – Guideline’s top-end Alta waders have been re-designed for 2017. They are made from two different Taslan Nylon fabrics: the tougher material is used at wear points around the legs and seat; the lighter fabric is deployed in areas less prone to wear to reduce weight. Seams are sealed using ultra-sonic welding, which means no stitching. There are no seams on the inside leg. The fit is very good, allowing plenty of movement, but the cut is slim so those of us with less-active lifestyles may need to choose one of the fuller sizes. The large front zip is a waterproof Tizip. The neoprene socks are reinforced and there are built-in gravel guards. The Altas look the part in a smart dark grey and have plenty of pockets and attachment points. There are two zip mesh pockets, two large top-opening zip pockets, tool bars for retractors and a D-ring on the back. All of which provides plenty of storage options for tools, fly-boxes, leaders and tippet spools, plus a place to hang a net. The fleece-lined handwarming pockets are especially welcome for cold-weather wading. Even the supplied wading belt has been designed to accommodate the majority of pouches and sheaths for pliers and wading staffs. Sizes: XS to 3XL, including MS, ML, MK, LS, LL, LK and XLK.
