WORDS OF WISDOM

Trout & Salmon (UK) - - Know How | Q&a - Arthur Ransome, Mainly about Fishing, 1959

“‘You must always have confidence in your fly.’ This is almost the first piece of advice given to the fisherman. You must always have confidence in your fly. Similarly, if you are given to theorising about your fishing, you must always have confidence in your theory. But this does not mean that you must always have confidence in the same fly or, for that matter, in the same theory … The salmon is the final arbiter, and if there is one thing about the salmon of which we can be sure it is our own ignorance.”
